POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) — Poquoson is back in the Class 2 state semifinals for the third year in a row after Friday’s region championship win over King William.

It was Poquoson’s third consecutive region title and its third straight trip to the state semifinals. The Bull Islanders will face Strasburg Saturday, and the two teams are similar, Poquoson outscored its opponents by an average of 21 points-per-game while Strasburg outscored its opponents by an average of 26 points-per-game.

Poquoson quarterback Eli Tyndall: “We play a style similar to their offense. They don’t throw it too much. We don’t throw it a ton, but we throw it more than them and hopefully we can open it up with the passing.”

Poquoson head coach Elliott Duty: “It’s gonna be a little smashmouth football on Saturday. We’re gonna find out who is better at technique, who is the more physical team. It’s gonna come down to those battles in the trenches.”
