PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A Pasquotank County Sheriff’s deputy has been fired after being arrested and charged with driving while impaired and reckless driving to endanger last month.

Kayla Butler, 28, was arrested Nov. 28 and had been working for the sheriff’s office since 2021.

Tommy S. Wooten II with the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Butler has since been fired.

Wooten said the N.C. State Highway Patrol conducted the investigation.

According to online court records, Butler had a breath test and it resulted in a reading of 0.09. She has a Jan. 7 hearing in Pasquotank District Court and has posted a $500 secured bond.
