CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — About four acres burned in a brush fire in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake, according to the Chesapeake Fire Department.

At approximately 3:50 p.m., emergency crews responded to the 200 block of George Washington Highway South following a call from a resident. The resident reported flames spreading onto multiple properties and traveling toward two structures.

Assisted by the Virginia Forestry Department and Chesapeake Community Emergency Response Team members, the Chesapeake Fire Department executed a containment strategy. Utilizing two brush trucks and deploying multiple hoselines, firefighters successfully extinguished the flames before significant damage to the structures could occur.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
