Chesapeake man arrested in connection to shooting at officer

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake police arrested a man Friday in connection to a shooting at a police officer.

Dominique Vaughn

S.W.A.T. Team executed a search warrant in the 4000 block of Sloop Trail. 33-year-old Dominique Vaughan was arrested after being identified as a suspect in the Nov. 24 shooting at an officer driving a marked Chesapeake Police vehicle.

Vaughan was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Chesapeake City Jail. The case remains under active investigation.

A review of his court history shows a web of cases in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach that involved run-ins with police over the years. Some of the cases were dismissed, or Vaughan was found not guilty.

In a check of WAVY archives, a man with the same name was referenced as a member of Gloves Up Guns Down, a community program that uses boxing to curb criminal behavior.

10 On Your Side has requested another interview with Vaughan, who is due in court Monday morning.
