HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Amazon announced they opened a new same-day delivery site in Hampton for the holiday season.
According to a release, the sites are specifically designed for speed, allowing workers to fulfill, sort and deliver packages all from one site.
“This new facility represents Amazon’s continued investment in Virginia and our commitment to creating quality jobs while innovating on behalf of customers,” Amazon’s Vice President of Worldwide Economic Development Holly Sullivan said. “We’re proud to continue creating jobs and investing in communities like Hampton. This new facility allows us to provide faster delivery to more customers while also offering great career opportunities with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.”
Currently, Amazon has 13 fulfilment and sortation centers, 17 delivery stations and over 39,000 full-time and part-time employees across the Commonwealth.
“We’re pleased that Amazon has deepened its investment in Hampton with this new, innovative robotics, same-day delivery site,” Hampton Mayor Donnie R. Tuck said. “This expansion not only represents a multi-million-dollar investment in the region, but also brings over 125 new full and part-time jobs to our community.”
