HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton University received a big donation on Thursday.

On Dec. 5, Leidos, a technology and engineering company based out of northern Virginia, announced it’s giving a $750,000 donation to the school.

“We’re proud to join with Hampton University to invest in the future of education and technology,” Leidos CEO Tom Bell said. “This gift reflects the strength of our relationship with the school and our ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, developing talent and ensuring students have the tools and experiences they need to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.”

According to the company, the donation will support scholarships, provide learning opportunities at Leidos facilities and help to enhance technology infrastructure at Hampton University.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of Leidos,” Hampton University President Darrell K. Williams said. “This donation will directly impact our students by providing them with vital scholarship opportunities, hands-on learning experiences and access to advanced technology. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with Leidos, which will enrich both our academic programs and the broader community.”

The donation will also help to establish a Leidos Innovation Studio in Hampton University, where students will be able to intern with the company and work on real-world projects.
