Hushpuppies sold in Va., N.C. recalled due to undeclared allergen

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Atkinson Milling Company has issued a recall on several of its hushpuppy products due to an undeclared allergen.

On Nov. 29, the company discovered several of their hushpuppies did not have milk listed in the “ingredients” or “contains” section, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The impacted products are listed below:

The affected hushpuppies have incorrect labeling up to Dec. 2, 2024, and were sold in the states of Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

The company released a statement on the recall, which can be read in part below.

As of Dec. 5, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

Customers who have purchased the impacted hushpuppies are urged to return the items to the store of purchase for a full refund.
